About our Director of Coaching:
Ben holds a Sport Science Degree, a Post Graduate in Physical Education and is an Australian Advanced level coach who is experienced in high performance hockey and developing players. Ben has amassed his coaching knowledge over 12 years, coaching in the United Kingdom, Perth, Queensland and now in Sydney.
Ben was contracted to the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) as Head Coach of the Men’s Hockey program before he moved to Sydney where he is currently contracted to the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) as the assistant coach to the ladies hockey program. Ben has extensive experience in successfully coaching teams at the Australian National Championships from under 18 to the Australian Hockey League (AHL).
As a coach, Ben has been the head of 5 State teams, (WA, Qld & NSW) winning a gold and three silvers. In an assistant coach role Ben, has been involved in three successful AHL campaigns winning silver and two bronze medals.
Having been involved in two Institute of Sports program and two future’s Camps, Ben is well placed to impart that experience onto aspiring players. He strives to help young athletes develop as players and achieve personal goals.
Ben’s coaching philosophy is player centric, looking at the holistic approach. In keeping with the Hockey Performance Academy’s mission statement, Ben’s focus is developing the player in body, Mind, Technique and Knowledge.
